What Is Fingerprint Drug Testing?

Fingerprint drug testing detects the presence of commonly abused drugs and their metabolites in sweat collected from the fingertips.

When drugs are consumed, they are metabolised by the body and excreted through the skin’s sweat glands. These trace substances are then collected from the fingertips’ surfaces onto the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening Cartridge and analysed using the Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening Reader.

This approach provides a fast, non-invasive alternative to traditional drug testing methods, such as urine and saliva testing.

How Fingerprint Drug Testing Works

1. Collection

The donor presses all ten fingertips onto the Drug Screening Cartridge sample pad. The Cartridge collects trace amounts of sweat from the fingertips.

2. Analysis

The Cartridge is inserted into the portable Drug Screening Reader. The Reader analyses the sample using immunoassay technology.

3. Results

Within approximately ten minutes, the Reader displays a screening result for each drug group in the testing panel.

The Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening Cartridge is used to collect fingerprint sweat from all ten fingertips within seconds.

Single-use and hygienic by design, the Cartridge supports an observed, non-invasive collection process without the need for specialist facilities or gender-specific staff.

Its tamper-evident, self-locking design helps protect sample integrity and reduce the risk of manipulation, ensuring consistent and reliable results.

Once the sample is collected, the Cartridge is inserted directly into the Drug Screening Reader for analysis.

Drug Screening Reader

The Intelligent Fingerprinting Drug Screening Reader analyses the Cartridge and provides a preliminary negative or non-negative screening result within minutes.

Lightweight and portable, the Reader is designed for use anytime and anywhere, with an all-day battery life and a simple touchscreen interface that enables fast, straightforward operation.

Its automated analysis delivers impartial, consistent results while minimising human error, supporting reliable decision-making.

The Reader enables results to be digitally recorded, downloaded, and shared with ease, helping to streamline drug testing processes.

Laboratory Confirmation

Non-negative screening results can be confirmed through laboratory analysis using liquid chromatography–mass spectrometry (LC-MS).

A second sample is collected and securely sent to an independent laboratory, providing an additional level of verification.
